HCG Regency Cancer & Gastro Care Centre (Tower 2) in Kanpur is a performance-driven facility where architecture supports both clinical care and environmental responsibility. The building’s orientation optimizes southern daylight while limiting heat gain, and double-glazed windows improve thermal insulation. Passive design strategies, material efficiency, and integrated systems work together to create a patient-centric environment that is efficient, comfortable, and future-ready.
In recognition of its sustainability-led approach, the project received a 4 Star / Gold Rating at the GEM Sustainability Awards 2020, presented by ASSOCHAM. This award highlights the building’s alignment with national green standards and reinforces its status as a benchmark in energy-conscious healthcare infrastructure.
Energy savings are achieved through multiple design strategies. Passive solar gain reduces load by 3%, high-performance glazing adds 4%, and rooftop solar panels contribute 2% of the building’s energy needs. A dual-flush water system improves efficiency by 2%, while LED lighting delivers the largest impact with a 45% energy reduction. These interventions significantly lower the carbon footprint while enhancing user comfort and operational performance.
The facade features a clean, rectilinear articulation with high-performance double-glazed units and precision-aligned cladding panels. The vertical massing and recessed fenestrations optimize daylight ingress while controlling heat gain. Together, these elements reflect an architectural language of efficiency, clarity, and contemporary minimalism.
